Baby Christopher to be born in May!

My cousin Mary will be having a baby soon and the last 4 months I have been working on this quilt for him. The theme is jungle animals. I was so happy to make this for Mary because I remember her as a child. She used to sit next to me at the sewing machine, watching me sew. She was a very quiet little girl and just enjoyed seeing what was being created! Today she does not sew, but loves handmade items. I hope his quilt becomes the blanky that goes everywhere and is loved always.

This is one of my first pieces that I made for my dad. Although it is not my best work it is one of my favorites because it shows all of my dad's hobbies that he loved. You see, my dad died a month ago today of stomach cancer. He was very sick and we are glad he is not suffering now. My dad was a quiet man that did not socialize very much. He did enjoy listening to the Yankees, doing a crossword puzzle, looking for birds, and in his younger days hunting and fishing. Dad was a fireman which he really didn't enjoy very much because of the risks. His favorite thing was traveling to Florida. So I will hang up this quilt in memory of dad!

Pete's Race Car Quilt

My husband Pete loves classic muscle cars. Particularly Mopar which is a Chrysler, Plymouth or a Dodge. I made him this quilt wall hanging using pictures of famous drag racing Mopars. It was a hit among his car guy friends!

Bass Fishing

Remove Formatting from selectionMy son Jake loves to fish for bass. We live near a lake in New York State and he is always taking the boat out. There is a big fishing tournament coming up and he plans on making the most of it. This weekend he will scope out the waters for the best spot and then next weekend will be the big contest. I made this quilt for him to remind him of the fish stories. Catch and release!

Baby Alina's Quilt

I have a cousin in Montana who just had a baby. They live in Whitefish among the Glacier National mountains. I wanted to create a fiber quilt wall hanging for the baby's room. My theme was Montana Baby Animals. I wanted the animals to be loving with the background of quiet mountains. With the help of some clip art, I kept adding animals and eventually decided it would become a baby quilt. The baby was a girl and her name is Alina.

Eclipse

I love Mexican ceramic pottery and clay suns. They have strong colors and a warm earthen ware pottery look. The wall suns are very welcoming and many people have them in their entrance ways or by their pools. I live in the northeast, so we don't get much sun! I was inspired by a wall sun that I saw this spring, It was called "Eclipse" and so I created this fiber art piece. I love the eyes and the attitude of the moon! She looks like she is searching for the stars and the future! The sun is confident because he knows he will return. (17" wide)

New Smyrna Beach

Every year our family goes to New Smyrna Beach Florida. I love the powder soft sand on the wide beaches. The smell of the ocean is fresh and the weather is always sunny. It is so peaceful there! My mother-in-law lives there and she loves the pelicans gliding across the skies. I created this pelican quilt for her. It was one of my first wall hangings and it is free-motion quilted.
